Why compare container prices before buying?
Comparing container prices before buying is useful because the displayed price varies from one seller to another for the same size and condition category, and delivery depends on the distance to the depot: only a delivered price, requested on the same basis, can be compared.
Color, departure depot, promotion, used grade and terms of sale differ from one offer to another: that is precisely what a request for a delivered price, on the same specification, makes it possible to settle.
The US price guide includes dated purchase-price examples from selected regional suppliers. These examples are not a national average; the published amounts are dated supplier examples, not our sale offers. Ask for a current USD quotation identifying the actual unit, applicable taxes, delivery, unloading and all mandatory charges. ContainerFox does not guarantee the lowest market price.

How to find the best total price among the quotes you compare
To pay a fair price for a shipping container, compare delivered prices rather than displayed prices, as the ContainerFox request allows: delivery depends on the distance between the departure depot and your address.
A more expensive but closer offer can therefore work out cheaper once delivered. A starting price is therefore not enough to make a choice.
Best practices for paying a fair price:
- Compare on the same basis: at least two delivered prices for the same size, the same condition category and the same address.
- Choose a suitable condition: compare the actual unit, its inspection record and any repairs needed. A new, one-trip or used description alone does not establish suitability for your goods.
- Aim for a nearby depot: the distance between the departure depot and your address determines the transport cost; ask where the unit is coming from.
- Describe access and unloading: truck access, ground, obstacles. The lifting method changes the price.
- Compare the total including sales tax: container, transport, unloading and options, not the starting price.
This is exactly what the ContainerFox request describes: size, condition, quantity, ZIP code, access and unloading, entered once. ContainerFox does not guarantee the lowest market price: it helps you ask each professional consulted to quote on the same basis.

How does the ContainerFox price comparison work?

Free and with no obligation. ContainerFox helps you compare suppliers and request quotes. Your request goes through our comparison service: the companies listed in the directory are not necessarily the recipients of your request. Professionals may pay for the introduction service (How the service works).
Prepare my requestWho receives your request?
The request is received by the ContainerFox team, who review it, may ask for clarification, and then search for suitable suppliers themselves. No number of responses is guaranteed. Depending on your project and your address, you may receive several quotes, one or none. A company shown on the site does not automatically receive your request. Why choose ContainerFox to buy or rent a container?
ContainerFox helps you find suppliers, prepare one inquiry for the container, delivery and unloading, and assess any quotations received on the same specification. You can check the company before contracting directly with it. The inquiry is free and carries no obligation.
- You prepare a clearer price inquiry
- What ContainerFox does: it publishes dated US purchase-price examples and helps you specify the container, delivery and unloading you need for a quotation. What you gain: you can give suppliers a consistent specification and ask for the full delivered price in USD for your ZIP code. Price evidence: the guide covers selected regional suppliers, not a national market average. No automatic discount is applied to the observed prices. Current written quotations establish the costs for your project. See US price guidance
- You compare the delivered price, not the starting price
- What ContainerFox does: the request specifies your ZIP code, site access and unloading. What you gain: the request gives each professional the same basis to quote on (container, transport, lifting) for your address. Why it's different: delivery depends on the departure depot and your address; a starting price alone is not enough to choose. What to include in the delivered total
- One inquiry with the same details for each supplier
- What ContainerFox does: you describe your need once (purchase or rental, size, condition, quantity, date and delivery ZIP code). What you gain: no re-entering of data; if several professionals respond, their quotes are easier to compare, item by item. What happens next: the request is saved for manual review by the site operator. Supplier contact, availability and a response are not guaranteed. Prepare my request
- You check the company before paying
- What ContainerFox does: the directory lists 219 businesses in the sector, with published business information, locations and documented services (data as at September 30, 2026). What you gain: you can review the supplier website and published location; to verify the contracting legal entity, the relevant federal, state or local business registry or the supplier's official website remain the reference. What remains to check: independently verify the legal seller, payment details, actual unit and dispatch depot before paying. Directory inclusion is not registry verification, accreditation or proof of stock. Browse the directory
- Free for you, and you pay the supplier directly
- What ContainerFox does: the request costs nothing to the requester. ContainerFox does not charge the requester for a quote request or collect the purchase or rental payment owed to an external supplier. What you gain: you deal directly with the chosen supplier for the contract, payment and delivery. Why it's different: the model is public. Any professional participation in the quote service is governed by the service terms. A supplier profile does not establish participation or a partnership. Request a delivered price, free of charge
What ContainerFox does and does not do
ContainerFox is free and without obligation for the requester. One inquiry gives the professionals consulted the same project details. Assess any quotations you receive on that basis. The service does not guarantee a lowest price, a number of quotes or a response time.
| Point | Response |
|---|---|
| Service price for the requester | Free: for a quote request, you pay nothing to the service. |
| Commitment | None: you are not obliged to accept any quote. |
| Service remuneration | Any professional participation in the quote service is governed by the service terms. A supplier profile does not establish participation or a partnership. |
| What is compared | In any quotations you receive, compare the container's size and condition, delivery, unloading, sales tax and other required charges. |
| Sizes | 20ft and 40ft, standard (dry) or high cube. Other requirements to specify in the request: 10ft, open side, converted, refrigerated. |
| Purchase or rental | Both, as well as container storage. |
| Conditions | New or one-trip, or used: wind and watertight (for storage), cargo-worthy (inspections and documents to request for the unit), refurbished or sold as-is. If in doubt: 'to be advised'. |
| Area | the United States, based on the delivery ZIP code. |
| Who responds | Suppliers consulted by the ContainerFox team, who review each request. |
| Number of quotes | Not guaranteed; a request may receive no response. |
| Response time | Not guaranteed: it depends on the professionals consulted. |
| Payment | ContainerFox does not charge the requester for a quote request or collect the purchase or rental payment owed to an external supplier. You pay the chosen supplier directly, on their terms. |
| Personal data | Contact details and project description, used for the request and communicated to the professionals consulted with your consent (Personal data). |
| Directory | 219 businesses in the sector, including 187 listing container sales and 170 listing rental. Non-exhaustive selection based on official sources where available. A business in the directory does not automatically receive quote requests. The current directory ranking does not depend on payment to receive quote requests. |
| What the service does not promise | Neither the lowest price on the market, nor a number of quotes, nor a response time, nor stock availability. A recorded difference between public offers does not predict the price of your quote. |
Product models are for quotation. ContainerFox does not publish unverified US sale prices or promise stock. The purchase or rental contract is concluded directly between you and the chosen supplier.
Comparison site, direct contact with each seller or private listing: which to choose?
ContainerFox helps you describe your requirements once and assess any delivered quotations received. You can also contact a supplier directly about a specific depot. For a private listing, verify the seller and ownership, inspect the unit and agree transport arrangements before paying.
| Criterion | ContainerFox | Contacting each seller | Private listing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Input | A single request | One form or call per seller | One message per listing |
| Price information before requesting | Model specifications with individual USD quote requests; dated US supplier examples retain their price basis and exclusions | Check and compare each supplier's advertised prices | An individual asking price; confirm the unit's grade and condition |
| Delivered price | Transport and unloading requested in the same request | To ask each one, sometimes on different bases | Transport often to be arranged by yourself |
| Supplier identity | To check: directory listing if the business is included, otherwise the relevant federal, state or local business registry or the supplier's website. | Check the relevant US business registry | Verify the seller's identity, ownership and authority to sell; establish whether they are a trader or a private seller. |
| Cost to you | Free | Free | Free |
| The right choice if... | you want to compare several delivered prices without re-entering your details | you are targeting a specific depot near you | you can inspect the container and arrange transport |
Nothing prevents you from combining both: the directory lists 187 businesses that list container sales, and the used containers page details the precautions to take with a listing.
Should you be wary of a container comparison site?
Check how a comparison service works: ContainerFox's supplier inquiry service is free to the requester and promises neither a number of quotes nor a response time. The price guide gives dated regional examples; catalog models need individual quotations. Verify the contracting business and the full terms before paying.
Will I end up paying more?
The service does not charge you anything. Businesses may pay to receive quote requests; like any commercial cost, this can be reflected in their price, so comparing several delivered prices protects you. You can also contact a business in the directory directly. Compare the total delivered price including sales tax and options.
Who will respond to me, and can I trust them?
Suppliers consulted by the ContainerFox team, who review each request. No number of responses is guaranteed. Whether or not a business appears in the directory, check the company details of the business that responds to you on the relevant federal, state or local business registry before signing. ContainerFox does not issue any label or rank sellers.
Will the container be available?
Catalog listings and directory entries do not establish current stock. The professional who responds to you confirms availability, the departure depot and the actual condition of the unit; ask for recent photos showing the container number.
When will I receive responses?
ContainerFox does not promise a timescale: it depends on the professionals consulted, your area and the accuracy of your request. State your preferred date and your flexibility; a complete request (size, condition, access, unloading) is easier to price.
What if I receive no quotes?
This can happen depending on the area and the project. Specify the request (size, condition, access, date) or contact the 187 businesses that list container sales directly in the ContainerFox directory, which you can filter by area.
Who benefits from comparing container quotes before buying?

Compare two delivered quotes
Enter the equipment charge for the entire agreed period and quantity. Ask suppliers to total weekly, four-weekly or calendar-month rental charges for the same delivery and collection dates first. This tool does not convert rental periods.
Leave an unquoted charge blank. Enter 0 only when it is confirmed as included elsewhere or not applicable. Use US dollars and up to two decimal places, without thousands separators. Each cost must use the sales tax basis selected for that quote; split or mixed tax rates need a revised inclusive total from the supplier.
Complete both costs and confirm equivalent scope to compare totals. An unknown amount is never treated as zero.
Refundable deposits are excluded from cost and are not taxed again by this tool. Check return conditions, payment dates and contingent damage or cleaning charges separately. Figures are not sent to ContainerFox and disappear when this page is closed or refreshed.
