What is your rental budget?

Enter the location and duration. You will then specify the number of people and equipment.

FreeNo obligation

Less than a month? Enter 1 month, then specify the dates in your request.

Plan the complete rental cost

Which configuration should you rent?

Specify the number of people on site at the same time, the intended uses and the facilities already available. The supplier will then be able to propose the layout and corresponding equipment.

An equipped mobile unit

For a moving site, specify the transport and parking conditions. Ask for details of water, energy and filling or emptying operations.

Modules to assemble

To combine offices, change rooms, rest and eating areas and toilets, request the complete layout. Ask for the offloading, assembly, access and connections to be quoted.

An additional portable building

If the site already has certain facilities, describe them. You can request an additional office or toilets depending on the need to cover.

Get a rental price for a complete set of jobsite facilities

No Canadian rental sample is published on this page. Agree the facilities, dates and servicing before comparing rates; an advertised number of seats is not a complete facilities specification.

Equipment

Specify the exact units, usable facilities, fittings and capacity for the proposed workforce and working hours.

Ready for use

Include delivery, offloading, supports, assembly, water and drainage arrangements, electricity and commissioning before work starts.

Throughout the project

Price cleaning, consumables, tank emptying and water replenishment, maintenance, emergency replacement and final pickup.

Ask for the charge period, applicable sales taxes, minimum rental, extension and notice terms, and every delivery or pickup charge. Commercial rental terms do not change the requirement to provide suitable site facilities from the start and throughout the work.

Request an itemized quote

Give dates, not just a number of months

Provide a desired delivery date and an expected end date. The rental company must specify how this period will be charged.

Short-term site

Ask about the minimum charge and fixed delivery and pickup costs. Using the unit for just a few days may still involve a longer billing period: ask the rental company to confirm this.

Several months

Ask for the entire period to be priced using the rate corresponding to your rental length. Specify the frequency of required services, such as emptying or maintenance.

Uncertain end date

Ask for a base rental period and the price of an extension. Ensure the notice period and the procedure for confirming the new date or arranging pickup are stated.

The minimum billed rental period is a commercial condition. It is separate from the duty to provide site facilities on short projects. Ask for delivery and commissioning before work begins, and maintain provision until the work ends.

Four answers to get before booking

Have these points included in the quote or the rental conditions.

  1. When do rental charges start?

Have the billing start date and its link with delivery or handover stated. Confirm the minimum charge and the rule for a partial month.

  2. What happens if the project lasts longer?

Ask for the extension rate, notice period and confirmation procedure. Check whether a change in duration affects the original rate.

  3. How is pickup organised?

Have it specified who requests pickup, the lead time and the date rental charges stop. Check truck access and preparation of the modules.

  4. What charges may remain at return?

Have cleaning, draining, dismantling and reinstatement itemized. Ask about the rules for returning the security deposit and insurance conditions.

At delivery, keep a condition report.

Record with the supplier the condition of the modules, furniture and equipment delivered. Keep photos, any reservations and delivery documents. At pickup, have the return condition and services carried out noted.

What the rented unit must actually provide

Choose the rules for the province or territory and the type of work; federally regulated workplaces have their own regime. Confirm facilities before work starts and maintain them throughout the project.

Accessible, sanitary toilets

Determine toilet type, numbers, privacy and accessibility under the applicable worksite rules. Requirements can depend on workforce and activity.

Specify: State peak headcount, shifts, location, safe access, cleaning, servicing, waste removal and winter operation.

Handwashing and task-specific hygiene

Provide the washing arrangements required for the site and tasks, including suitable water, soap and hygienic drying. Check local running-water and warm-water rules and any exceptions.

Specify: Identify water supply, heating, drainage and freeze protection. Assess showers or specialist decontamination for hazardous work.

Meals, breaks and shelter

Plan clean areas for meals and breaks with shelter and suitable temperature control. Confirm any specific local requirements.

Specify: State simultaneous users, furniture, safe heating, ventilation and cleaning. Keep food separate from contaminated work materials.

Provincial examples apply only in their jurisdiction.

Check facilities at handover and throughout the rental

Before work starts

Prepare functioning toilets, washing, drinking water and suitable break facilities, with safe access and cold-weather protection.

During the project

Assign checks, cleaning records where required, supplies, tank servicing and fault response. Reassess changing occupancy and shifts.

When moving or removing units

Maintain suitable facilities and plan safe disconnection, transport and waste disposal.

Agree who provides drinking water, changing, secure clothing storage and drying, and showers where required. If the rented unit covers only some of these needs, identify the other available facilities in the site arrangements.

Who is responsible for what during the rental?

A clear list of services helps you prepare the site and compare quotes.

Before delivery

Location and supports approved, truck access, lifting, assembly and connections. Divide the tasks between your team and the supplier.

During use

Maintenance, cleaning, breakdown assistance, water and energy. If tanks are fitted, specify filling, emptying, access and frequency of visits.

Before pickup

Furniture inventoried, cleaning and emptying in accordance with the contract, disconnection and dismantling assigned to the planned contractors. Maintain the required access for pickup.

Prepare the location and installation

Are you planning to reuse the modules?

Also get a quote for purchase, then add transfers, storage and maintenance. Compare both solutions based on the actual uses planned, with the same equipment.

A standard rental and a finance agreement with purchase option involve different conditions. A monthly amount alone is not enough to compare them: check duration, any deposit, services and purchase price.

Compare jobsite facility rental costs and purchase budgets

Have the equipment for your site confirmed

Describe the number of people, uses and working conditions. A commercial capacity or the mention 'equipped' does not by itself describe all the necessary facilities.

See benchmarks for site facilities

Have the rental costed up to pickup.

Questions about jobsite facility rentals

What does it cost to rent jobsite facilities?
Ask for a dated quote for the specific unit, period, delivery, commissioning, cleaning, servicing and pickup. There is no verified Canadian jobsite facility rental price sample on this page. Check applicable sales taxes, the minimum billed period and extension charges.
Can you rent jobsite facilities for less than a month?
It depends on the rental company and the equipment. Ask for the minimum period billed and the exact dates covered by the quote. In the form, enter one month and then specify your actual duration in the request. Suitable site facilities are still required on projects shorter than a month.
Is return transport included in the rental cost?
Check the quote: the rental cost alone does not indicate the cost of pickup. Ask for a separate price for delivery, return, offloading, dismantling and return services. Also confirm the date on which the rental charges stop.
How can I extend a rental if the site runs late?
Check the notice period and procedure set out in the contract, then have the rental company confirm the new duration and its rate. Ask at quote stage for the cost of an extension and any possible effect on the original rate.
Is a mobile jobsite unit fully self-contained?
Not necessarily. A self-contained toilet does not prove that the rest of the installation is self-sufficient in water, electricity or heating. Ask about the equipment involved, the stated capacities and any filling or emptying services to be arranged.
