Ranges retain the published bounds; 'from' retains a starting price. Reliable does not state the tax basis and its page shows an out-of-stock notice. Conway's example identifies one unit; reconfirm it is available. AB, SK and BC are SeaCanDirect service areas, not confirmed dispatch depots. Obtain a current quote for the unit, taxes and delivery.

How the −25% scenario works

Published amount × 0.75 = planning scenario. For example, $2,500 × 0.75 = $1,875 CAD. The reduction applies only to the container amount. Delivery, unloading, taxes and site work must still be added. A lower assumed price does not make the final project cost more certain.

These examples cover unmodified steel shells with standard end doors. The SeaCanDirect one-trip example is the ivory model; other colours can differ. Used grades, pickup locations and the exact unit also affect the price. They do not price an insulated office, refrigerated installation or completed container home.

Define the size and condition before comparing prices

Size, condition, door arrangement and the supplier's actual stock define what you are pricing. Compare equivalent units before comparing totals.

What to specify in a Canadian container quotation
RequirementAsk the supplierWhy it changes the cost
Size10ft, 20ft, 40ft or High Cube; actual external and door dimensionsExtra space may require different transport and site access.
ConditionOne-trip, cargo-worthy, wind and watertight or an explicitly described repair projectCondition labels do not replace photos and an inspection of the actual unit.
DoorsEnd doors, side opening, extra access or other modificationOpening changes affect purchase price, handling and structural design.
UseUnheated storage, occupied workspace or temperature-controlled storageInsulation, fit-out, services and approvals are separate from the shell.

Ask whether the quotation reserves an identified unit or a unit from a specified grade. Record the stock location, quote expiry and substitution policy. Do not treat a marketing photograph or a supplier's directory listing as confirmation that the illustrated container is available.

Compare 20ft container dimensions and 40ft container dimensions before requesting the same size and door arrangement from each supplier.

Why container prices differ between suppliers

A lower pickup price can become a higher delivered total. Compare the departure depot, included work, taxes and contract period on the same basis.

Prepare a comparable quote request

Calculate the full container, delivery and unloading cost

Ask for the container, transport, unloading and all mandatory charges to be itemised. Sales tax depends on the supply and applicable place-of-supply rules; there is no single national all-in rate.

A Toronto delivery, a Vancouver Island project and a northern seasonal route can have very different logistics. Provide your municipality, province or territory, postal code, access photographs and intended placement. Confirm carrier restrictions and the ground conditions for the delivery date, including snow clearing or spring-thaw restrictions where relevant.

The supplier must establish the tax treatment for the actual transaction. Do not assume a business can recover every tax it pays.

Compare costs without omitting required services

Define which features are essential, then compare a suitable used unit, another size, or rental for the same project duration.

A sound used storage container may meet an unheated storage brief; a residential conversion needs a much wider design and approval budget. A refrigerated unit also needs a compatible electrical supply and an operating-cost estimate. Avoid comparing the price of a steel shell with a completed building or commissioned cold store.

For a short project, include rental pickup and minimum charges. For ownership, include maintenance and eventual removal. Keep any assumed resale value separate: it is neither guaranteed income nor money available to pay today's invoice.

How these prices were checked

We checked the Canadian suppliers' public product pages on September 30, 2026. The table keeps each supplier's stated currency, condition, location, price range or starting-price basis, and tax and delivery exclusions.

The checking date records when the page was reviewed; the suppliers did not provide a price-update date. Product price fields were used where older introductory text differed. Reconfirm the actual unit and amount in writing. We retain the source records internally for editorial checks.

This selection includes Kamloops, Richmond, Vancouver and Vaughan, plus SeaCanDirect's advertised AB, SK and BC service area. It does not establish a national average, a lowest market price, inventory availability or a commercial relationship. Obtain local delivered quotes for your destination, including remote, ferry or seasonal routes.

The low-budget figures are calculated separately at 75% of the checked prices, to the nearest cent. No supplier has promised that reduction. Records are labelled historical after 120 days until checked again. ContainerFox's catalogue separately lists CAD base prices. Prices marked provisional require a written quote; the actual unit, availability, taxes, delivery and unloading require confirmation for your destination.

Questions about Canadian container prices

Are prices in Canadian dollars?
This edition uses CAD. Request a written Canadian-dollar quotation and confirm the currency before paying, particularly for cross-border suppliers.
Is delivery included?
Only if your quotation says so. Ask for transport and unloading at the actual address to be itemised, including any waiting, access or pickup charges.
What tax rate should I use?
Use the treatment confirmed by the supplier for the supply and delivery location, including GST/HST and any applicable PST or QST. There is no universal Canadian all-in rate.
How much is a used 20ft container?
The checked Valleyview example is $2,500–$3,000 CAD before tax and delivery, recorded on September 30, 2026. The separate calculated −25% scenario is $1,875–$2,250 CAD. Neither is a delivered quote for your address.
Can I buy at the 25% lower price?
The −25% amounts in this guide are planning scenarios calculated from the cited supplier examples. They are not supplier promotions or promised savings. The shop separately displays ContainerFox catalogue prices. Ask for a written quote and use the actual delivered total for your buying decision.
Does ContainerFox show the cheapest supplier?
No. The dated examples cover a small selection of Canadian locations and suppliers. They are not a national survey or a ranking. Compare written quotations for the same specification, site and period.
Does a quote request place an order?
No. It prepares an enquiry and takes no payment. Review the final specification, seller, terms and total before entering a contract.
